Dr. TJ Peterson is dedicated to helping the people of Central Nebraska move better, feel better, and get back to doing the things they love. Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, a sports injury, headaches, dizziness, or everyday aches and stiffness, his goal is simple: provide effective, evidence-based care that helps you recover faster, perform better, and stay active for the long term.
Since 2013, Dr. Peterson has served patients in Kearney and the surrounding communities, helping individuals of all ages take control of their health and regain confidence in their bodies. His approach combines hands-on treatment, movement-based rehabilitation, and patient education to address not only symptoms, but the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction.
A cornerstone of Dr. Peterson’s clinical training is the treatment of soft tissue injuries and movement disorders. He is extensively trained in Active Release Techniques® (ART®), one of the most respected and effective soft tissue treatment systems available. ART is designed to identify and treat problems involving muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves that often contribute to pain, reduced mobility, and impaired performance.
In addition to chiropractic adjustments, Dr. Peterson incorporates soft tissue therapy, corrective exercise, rehabilitation, stabilization training, kinesiology taping, and evidence-based treatment strategies to help patients achieve lasting results. His treatment philosophy focuses on empowering patients with the tools and knowledge they need to maintain their health and prevent future injuries.
Dr. Peterson earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to chiropractic school, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he was a member of the Loper football team and the National Scholar Honors Society. He is also a proud graduate of Kearney High School.
Throughout his professional training, Dr. Peterson studied under some of the most respected clinicians in chiropractic and sports medicine, including physicians who have worked with professional and collegiate athletic programs such as the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Brigham Young University, and the University of Missouri. These experiences helped shape his evidence-based, performance-oriented approach to patient care.
As a student clinician, Dr. Peterson had the opportunity to work with University of Missouri Athletics, Maryville University Athletics, high school athletes, and members of Glen Echo Country Club. This experience fueled his passion for helping athletes and active individuals recover from injury and perform at their highest level.
Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Peterson continues to pursue advanced education and training to ensure his patients receive the most current and effective treatment available. He remains actively involved in professional organizations that promote high-quality, patient-centered healthcare and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Peterson is deeply invested in the Kearney community. He serves on the boards of the Kearney Family YMCA and the Loper Gridiron Club and is actively involved with the University of Nebraska at Kearney Alumni Association and E-Free Church.
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Peterson enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelsey, a nurse practitioner, and their two children. As a family, they enjoy camping, fishing, hunting, lake days, and taking advantage of everything Nebraska’s outdoors has to offer.
